rmdir

rmdir [OPTION]... DIRECTORY...

Remove the DIRECTORY(ies), if they are empty.

Options

--ignore-fail-on-non-empty

ignore each failure that is solely because a directory is non-empty

--parents, -p

remove DIRECTORY and its ancestors; e.g., ‘rmdir -p a/b/c’ is similar to rmdir a/b/c a/b a

--verbose, -v

output a diagnostic for every directory processed

Examples

Remove specific directories:

rmdir {{path/to/directory1 path/to/directory2 ...}}

Remove specific nested directories recursively:

rmdir {{[-p|--parents]}} {{path/to/directory1 path/to/directory2 ...}}

Clean a directory of empty directories:

rmdir *
